Detoxing For Better HealthDetoxing does not have to be complicated. Start as simple as sleeping 30 minutes earlier and waking up to have more time in the morning.Drink filtered 6-8 glasses of water per day. Besides this, if you'd like to try detoxing the rest of the body, try our yoga classes this Fall.To help your body detox properly, we need to reduce the stress: mental, physical or physiological. To diminish stress, yoga and meditation is highly recommended. If you look at my Instagram or Facebook, you get some ideas since I post a lot of pictures of salads and different 'healthier' versions of foods.Often, if we feel like eating lighter, healthier, my husband asks for this salad. For the ingredients, anything goes, whatever you like, but for the dressing, this might be even better than Mandy's or Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP.com recipes!I hope you enjoy making it and tasting it.Jewel’s Detox Salad RecipeI tried many different recipes and made my own twists on all of them and came up with this one. Everybody’s favorite! My husband asked that I make a bottle of the dressing so he could put on everything!Ingredients: (serves two)5-6 big romaine lettuce leaves (you can substitute with any leafy greens you like)Few Cherry tomatoes cut in halves or in quarter depending on the size1/3 English cucumber½ avocado½ carrot (I like the old-fashion variety from farmer’s markets or from organic stores)few thinly sliced red onion (optional)Wash and cut, put the lettuce at the bottom, place the rest on top nicely for presentation. Drizzle the dressing with some sesame seeds if available right before serving.Miso-ginger dressingI follow the rule of 5 for my salad dressings: 5 different layers of taste.Ingredients (makes about 1 cup, double it up and put it in fridge for another day)1 tablespoon chopped fresh ginger (organic white ginger from glass jar is good too)1 tablespoon of best sweet organic white miso paste (the darker it is, less sweet)1 teaspoon of rice vinegar1 teaspoon of toasted sesame oil (more if you love this)¼ cup of your best mild tasting olive oil (I like the one from Olive and Olives)Few drizzle of spicy olive oil or bit of chili flakes (if you like spicy)½ teaspoon of sea salt or pink Himalayan salt½ teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper1 tablespoon of light raw honey (optional especially if you took a jarred ginger as they are sweeter already)You can puree if you’d like, but I just make sure there are no big lumps of miso, I mix them well all together and drizzle over the salad just before serving. Voilà !I tried many different recipes and made my own twists on all of them and came up with this one...everybody’s favorite! My husband asked that I make a bottle of the dressing so he could put on everything!Cheers,Jewel Harini LeeArt & Yogawww.jewelyoga.blogspot.ca
