FRIDAY'S SLEEP TIP OF THE DAY

Sleep is not only critical for your baby's physical and cognitive development, but it's also super important that moms get enough sleep too! Ensuring that you get a good night's sleep will help to keep you more alert, energetic and happier :) Sleeping the appropriate number of hours can also benefit your waistline - so if you've been working out and eating right, but still aren't seeing the results you're hoping for, getting more sleep could help. Research shows that a lack of sleep affects two hormones that regulate hunger (grehlin and leptin), which typically results in overeating. So in order to stay rested, aim for 8 hours of sleep a night! If you have a little one, try to sleep during your baby's nap time, and start to head to bed 15-30 minutes earlier each night if you're currently falling a little short. To learn more or to help get your child's sleep on track, contact Shawna Rose, a certified pediatric sleep consultant from Destination Sleep (www.destinationsleep.ca) at shawna@destinationsleep.ca or www.facebook.com/destinationsleep
