HYDRATE YOURSELF CHALLENGE
After talking and looking over many of your goals for 2023, I realized that many of you wanted to make sure to stay hydrated or drink more water. I decided to do a challenge for 1 month as a way to keep you motivated, get tips, recipes and hopefully by the end of the month it will become part of your regular routine!
What are just some of the benefits of staying hydrated:
Body needs to be hydrated to function at it’s best
Keep energy level up
Helps with concentration & brain function
Lubricates joints
Weight control
Better skin
Perform better
AND much more!!
Week 1: Let’s get started!
The purpose of week 1 is to get organized and ready to be successful in this challenge! Here are a few things that you will need or might want to get:
Water bottle: to be able to bring this everywhere you go (Strainless steel or glass). Some water bottles have time markings to remind you when to drink and when to refill! Here is an example:
Water tracker and reminder app. There are many app’s now available to remind you when you drink when to drink and track what you take in water wise daily.
Water buddy! Get a friend or someone in your family to join you to stay accountable and of course you have me too ;)
Stock up the kitchen with foods that have high water content to help increase your daily water intake
Have some herbal teas on hand: peppermint, rooibos, lemon etc
Tips:
Try to decrease your coffee and caffeinated teas
Eliminate sugary sodas
*Let’s start by making some spa waters!!
Spa Water recipes:
Love this one to start off with because the recipe are simple and gives some variety to the taste of your water…especially those of you who say water is boring! Here are some fun combos:
Cucumber and lemon or lime
Lime and mint
Watermelon and mint
Pineapple and orange
Pineapple and blueberry (use frozen blueberries to change the color of your water!)
Other recipes to try are homemade lemonades that are refreshing and no sugar added:
